In the summer of 2023, I joined GH Advertising (formerly Garrison Hughes) as the creative design intern. Over the course of 10 weeks, I worked directly with a creative mentor, I was paired with a copywriting intern, and I was able to work in a team of fellow interns on creating a campaign–completely run by us.

My time at GH allowed me to learn how an agency runs, the art of organizing files, the importance of feedback (many and many rounds), and just how important a friendly culture is.

GHjr. Internship Project

Over the 10 week internship program, our intern class was tasked with creating a campaign to increase the number of qualified candidates for the following year’s internship program. I was able to work in a team with 6 other interns from the following departments: copywriting, social media, account management, project management, digital interactive, and media.

My copy partner Jaden and I led the creative concepting stage, brainstorming different creative avenues to solve the business problem. Once a concept was finalized, we worked with the rest of the team to infuse the idea across paid media, social media, collegiate outreach (stickers!!), and on the GH website.

All of this work accumulated into a lengthy presentation, which we gave to the entire agency on our last week. Click below to see the full presentation deck and how GHjr was able to brand GH as the place where you won’t feel like just an intern.

First National Bank Poster – “Committed to Community”

My copywriter partner and I were tasked with creating in-branch promotional posters for GH’s client, First National Bank to advertise their involvement within their communities. Our poster was selected by the client to be printed and posted at all of the 350 FNB branches across Pennsylvania, Ohio, Maryland, West Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, and the District of Columbia.

This project provided challenges working within strict brand guidelines, but ultimately it taught me how to be creative – despite the limitations.
